UNIVERSITIES ACTRACTIVENESS INDEX
The net migration rate is defined as the difference between those enrolled in the regional campuses and those enrolled in the university system residing in the regional territory. The net migration rate does not include foreign students enrolled in Italian universities, Italians residing abroad and those enrolled in online universities. Starting from 2001-02, the net migration rate of students and the number of enrolled students by region are calculated by region where the course is held and no longer by region where the university is located. This calculation makes it possible to correctly assign the place of enrollment of the students: this is the case of the students of the Catholic University of Milan (where the university HQ is located) enrolled in the courses in the Rome campus.
